1970 BMW R75/5 Sidecar Racebike

This high performance racer has quite a pedigree.

The first incarnation was built by Hugo Walters, its a kneeler type chassis with leading link fork. The brakes are dual caliper Lockheed hydraulic units. The engine was built by Udo Geitle, BMWs former factory racing mechanic. The modified engine is from a 1970 R75/5. The cylinder heads have splayed intake ports and use huge 44mm delorto sidecar carburetors. The machine passed NSCRA technical inspection in 2004. We attempted to race the rig at the Jennings GP in March of 2004. We were disqualified do to excessive noise. Ok its loud but isn't that the point of going to a race track? Any way we installed a set of supertrapp inserts and it quieted it down quite a bit.
